Sanford Federal is Hiring an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter Near Saint Paul, MN

Sanford Federal, Inc. seeks qualified ASL Interpreters to provide interpretation services for the US Army Corps of Engineers St.Paul Minnesota facilities. as an ASL Interpreter you need to;

  • Provide Interpretation Services: Interpret spoken language into sign language for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and interpret sign language back into spoken language for others in various settings like meetings, educational environments, healthcare facilities, legal proceedings, and social events.
  • Ensure Effective Communication: Ensure that communication is clear, accurate, and accessible to all parties involved, conveying the meaning, tone, and nuances of messages accurately.

Location:
Services will be performed at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System at the below locations:

  • Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center, 650 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix AZ 85012
  • Northeast VA Health Care Clinic, 11390 E. Via Linda Road, Suite 105, Scottsdale, AZ 85259
  • Southeast VA Health Care Clinic, 3285 S. Val Vista Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85297
  • Northwest VA Health Care Clinic, 13985 W. Grand Avenue, Suite 101, Surprise, AZ 85374
  • Southwest VA Health Care Clinic, 9250 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85037
  • Midtown VA Health Care Clinic, 5040 N. 15th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015
  • Thunderbird VA Health Care Clinic, 9424 N. 25th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85021

Schedule:

May 14th, 2024 (Onsite)

  • Two interpreters needed onsite for a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Responsibilities:

  • This list is not fully inclusive and is subject to change depending upon the requirements of USACE:
  • Staff meetings
  • Commemorative programs
  • Award ceremonies
  • Safety talks/training
  • Discussions on work procedures, policies, or assignments for formal and informal settings
  • Quarterly performance discussions
  • Annual performance appraisals
  • Disciplinary discussions
  • Basic staff training/classroom training
  • Interviews
  • All hands meetings
  • Other ad hoc assignments are similar in nature on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide on-site, off-site, and online interpreter services for meetings and assignments for deaf and hard of hearing employees.
  • Interpret from American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Sign English (PSE), Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE), Signed English, and reverse interpretations.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate shall have:
  • Interpreters must demonstrate fluency in expressive and receptive skills in oral spoken English
  • into signed English and American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Sign English (PSE),
  • Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE), Signed English and the reverse to spoken
  • English; ability to accurately interpret in a variety of settings; and ability to keep pace with
  • communications in conferences, meetings, seminars, training classes, etc.
  • A copy of the candidates RID/DODHH card and their Minnesota certification should be provided.
  • Before any interpreter works at/for USACE, the interpreters' professional folio shall be sent and
  • reviewed by the Government. The sign language interpreter(s) certification information shall be
  • kept up to date and current copies of all applicable documents including, but not limited to
  • updated / renewed licenses shall be on file.
  • Interpreters must possess a high level of language proficiency in English and sign language and
  • must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of USACE that they are competent interpreters who
  • can render spoken discourse accurately from English into sign language and from sign language
  • into spoken English, and as appropriate, perform interpretations in the simultaneous, as well as
  • consecutive modes and/or render sight translations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must have RID/DODHH card and Minnesota certification
  • ASL , PSE , CASE and signed English
